Introduction
About my teaching philosophy, I think firstly teachers cannot should not subjectively reject the application of technology. In the digital age, teachers must realize that technology can not only help teaching, but more importantly, students in this generation are born with technology. That is to say, no matter what teacher’s attitude towards technology, students are the application of technology from birth. So if teachers resist learning and applying new technologies to assist teaching, they will be abandoned by the times.
Secondly, I think that no matter how the technology develops, it can not replace the core value of the teacher itself, so the teacher should strengthen his own quality and professor level. In the digital age, a large amount of complicated information is accumulated on the Internet, and one of the responsibilities of teachers is to select appropriate content from them to guide students to learn in the form of interest. Therefore, I think the teacher should be a selector.
At the same time, I think teachers should encourage students to share life and experiences outside the school. For example, let students share what they were interested in this week and what they did not do before. This method is especially important for younger students. This will prompt them to actively explore the unknown receipts, thereby inspiring their curiosity.
Finally, although the OCL method is very helpful for online learning, I still agree to organize more offline collaborative learning. Cooperative learning is not only about learning but also socializing. Only face-to-face socializing can really train students’ EQ and communication skills.
Hi Yuye!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and commentary about teachers and how necessary technological integration is today. I also appreciated your insightful statement that, “no matter how the technology develops, it can not replace the core value of the teacher itself”. I think this highlighted how integral the teacher still is are in this process.
Some concerns around Artificial Intelligence (AI) have always been that robots and machines will take over the world and jobs will be lost. While in some fields, such as manufacturing, this may in fact be true, I believe at a core fundamental level teachers who are passionate, innovative, and focused on student engagement and success are invaluable. Teachers who focus on distributing knowledge and facts however, are undoubtedly in danger. I have heard and be told on more than one occasion, don’t teach anything you can “GOOGLE”. If that’s all we as educators do, our School Districts might as well save $100,000 per year and hire Alexa and Siri.
Hi Yuye
Thank you for sharing, I am definitely going back through and re reading some of these posts (as I now have time haha)
What you have said here definitely resonates with me, yes we need to incorporate technology, but I agree it can not be the main focus, it almost has to be an add on to further the learning. what the last 3 months have taught me is that nothing beats face to face for most students (including myself!)
