I have been teaching online French class to adults and children more than two years. This kind of remote teaching and learning definitely brings my students and me a lot of convenience. As long as my students have Internet and a laptop, smartphone or Ipad, they can take French classes anytime and anywhere. For example, one of my students who studies in a primary school in China even have class when he waited in airport departure lounge or when he was on his way to the airport with his parents. It occurs sometimes. They have improved their French skills without going to a foreign language school.
Currently, I am really interested in voice assistants like Amazon’s Arexa which Joe shown us in the class. I think it can build a fully speech-controlled interaction with the audience. Students may feel curious and creative about it. They can ask any questions they want to know without teachers. Another advantage is that this voice assistant has multilingual support so that more accessible for people from different countries. My students also use a variety of information and communication technologies and voice-enabled technologies because of its huge database. In addition, it can be connected with the majority of branded smartphones. One has to mention, for example, the voice assistant like Apple’s Siri cannot understand the meaning on different sentences and sometimes it did not observe at all. For the future, it would be better to implement more different subjects in order to reply to more people’s questions.
