I haven’t used these technological innovations in classes, but I have experience of using some of them like professional assistants and remote learning in my life. Technological innovations have offered many conveniences to teachers and students. For example, when I am looking up for something that I do not know, I just need to talk to Siri. After that, I will get all the information that I need. At the same time, I am also concerned about the written communication skills has decreased as we are not used to write in hand, but right now we are used to typing and talking to personally assistants.
I think that technology in education is a tool to be used to support teaching and learning. In my opinion, what teacher should do is to think about how to integrate everything together. I might use Edmodo and Edpuzzle in my classroom in the future particularly the online class. Edmodo and Edpuzzle provide a platform for teachers and students to communicate with each other, which is align with constructivism and connectivism. Students have the opportunities to see what are happening in the world through these applications and tools. They can construct their own understanding of what they learn. The two applications can support students to be motivated to classes particularly online classes. They can watch videos, read teacher’s notes and answer the questions at the same time. They can also interact with others who have different cultures and experiences backgrounds to enhance their own intercultural awareness. In addition, teachers’ intercultural communicative competence will develop a lot through Edmodo.
Teachers might face some challenges when they bring the educational tools into classroom. First, students might lose the ability of oral communication and writing communication as they rely on such tools a lot when they are learning. To solve this problem, I suggest that teachers encourage students to share an electronic device with others. They can work as a team, and teachers can deliver different tasks to different members in a group, which can promote students’ comprehensive ability.
