Introduction
With the advent of technology, the whole structure of the education is changed, and it gives ample opportunities to the students and teachers to carry on their passion in teaching and learning.
As an educator in the digital age, my role is to make students active in learning by using technology. Sometimes, technology distract students from learning and apart from learning students start exploring other things on the technology. Activities should be designed in such a way that it arose interest in the students to complete their task without boredom. Technology is a helping tool in the hands of the teacher to use it effectively for the well being of the students. If teacher, student and technology will work in one direction then outcome will be skyrocketing.
I believe the online learning should in part because technology cannot take the place of teachers. The teacher can clear the concepts by understanding the situation, emotions, culture, and various other things of the students. The technology cannot be able to do that, it cannot be changed or alter according to the needs or interests of the students. A guide is required for teaching the students with the help of technology. I will use technology for showing videos, pictures, and doing some project works, but explanation, question and answers session for exploring more about the topics will be done in the classroom. Technology cannot generate new ideas, what human minds can generate. Technology is made by man, so we should not fully depend upon it. Teachers set an example for the students, and almost all the students follow their teachers. So, online learning should be delivered partially.
Hi Nav,
Thanks for your post. I am curious what you mean by “The technology cannot be able to do that, it cannot be changed or alter according to the needs or interests of the students.”?
Hello Ellen,
Teacher use different methods of instructions in the class. For example, some students need detail explanation of the concepts, some need demonstration and some require individual attention, because every student in the class is not at same level of understanding. So, teachers can alter and change they way of teaching according to the students, but technology on the spot cannot be changed or alter, it lacks flexibility.
Hi Nav,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I agree with your viewpoint that technology can not replace the teacher in the classroom as the only human can understand the needs of other humans. Nowadays, we have very diverse classrooms. So to make them inclusive, we need both teachers and technology.
