Introduction

In this educational technology course, I have learned a lot, and the knowledge I gain changed my perspective towards education and the extended usage of technologies. I have never thought that there is a course that focuses on how to employ different online technology into a traditional or online classroom. Also, I even thought that the internet could actually offer a bunch of free learning resources that could benefit many students. There also have several points of view that resonated with me.

First of all, the easy access to open education resources where there is no discrimination of where you are from, what your gender is, whether you are qualified to get access or not, etc. As a student, I go to school; the most thing that comes to my mind is the costs of textbooks. Open education offers me free online textbooks with recognized qualifications. I don’t need to worry about my financial issue, neither other students. Especially when I writing an essay, I just need to search online and can find the appropriate articles for free downloading. Online education resources greatly eliminate barriers to learning, it makes our learning flexible and high efficient.

Second, the concept of FIPPA is a reminder that we should always be aware our personal information might be tracked by some applications. It brings me concern about how student privacy increased more when it became known that the internet was sharing every information. Every time we do the Google search, the data will be collected, and Google finally synthesis those search and present some relevant advertisement that we potentially interest. Even, like the app plagiarism checker Turnitin, also trade on their work to do the business, which means students privacy was drawn on by those company and used to make more money from them.

In conclusion, there is still a lot to say about how to utilize learning theories in online teaching and how to choose cutting-edge technology in the classroom. From this class, the main things I learned are that we should continuously update our teaching approach and adapt them to accommodate students’ needs.
